Su Manshu 1884-1918
Sweet surf riding goddess
white as snow,
Offers me a crimson leaf
asks for a poem.
In return dear one
only my alms bowl
filled with bitter tears,
And regrets we didn't meet
before my pate was cropped!

Notes: Probably written on an outing to Kamakura and Enoshima. A usual Su Manshu, a sometimes monk, was attracted to the ladies, a rued the day he shaved his pate!
