Notes: The photo is of the balustrade of the 大明宮 Dàmínggōng, Great Bright Palace, first built by the first Tang emperor 太宗 Tàizōng in 634 as a separate palace for his wife. In 663, the second Tang emperor 高宗 Gao Zong made it his main palace.
