Chu Mo was born and became a monk in Shaoxing, east of Hangzhou across the Qiantang River. Later he moved to Lushan in Jiangxi Province. Image is the Lufengsi on Incense Burner Peak in the outskirts of Chu Mo's hometown of Shaoxing, Zhejiang.
