Presented To An Expat Monk
|
(His old name was Zong Shi. Before he
compliled the definitive record of the
three Zhongshan poet monks, Shou Mei,
Bu Ji, and Zong Shi.)
Xu Baoguang 1663-1734
Beyond the sea
were three eminent monks,
Shou Mei died and with Bu Ji
became an immortal.
Now in the mountains
only one meditates,
Counting winters and springs
he's already seventy.
As soon as I came
to the numinous mountain
I inquired about him
But the word from the locals
was not always correct.
Right before their eyes
they failed to see this old sun,
Beyond disasters
constant, still
wrapped in his mind.
With the snap of fingers
thirty years gone,
Gathering discussions
weaving a record
Lofty and original.
Befriending Zhi and Xu
he emulated their work,
The Buddha Gate
he opened
for those coming behind.
