Looking east toward Pacific Ocean
Great View From Ancient Mountain Castle
|
Xu Baoguang 1671-1740
On Great View Mountain top
tigers and panthers squat,
A tyrant's dream
we pause for a rest
litle remains.
A ruined wall and palace
short some tiles,
Desolate weeds
cattle and goats graze
this shattered village.
Bees gather honey
coexisting with the past,
Empty snail shells
who gulped them down?
From the deserted castle
high on a ridge
I gaze afar,
The ocean shivers
in the west wind
as dusk turns to dark.
