Forty-five

Bai Juyi 722-846 Age--forty five, hair on the sides gone half grey, slender and trim, poetry his great failing, brusque, hearty, a bit wild when drinking, older now, leaving all to fate, any place comfortable he calls home. Who knows--on Mount Lu next spring he may even build a thatch-roofed hall!

Sìshíwǔ

Bái Jūyì 722-846 Xíngnián sìshíwǔ, Liǎngbìn bàn cāngcāng. Qīngshòu shī chéng pì, Cūháo jiǔ fàngkuáng. Lǎolái yóu wěi mìng, Ān chù jì wéi xiāng. Huò nǐ Lúshān xià, Láichūn jié cǎo táng.
