Occasional Poem 8 of 10
         Su Manshu 1884-1918

Endless spring longings
        regrets unending,
Resonate at this moment
        plucked by her finger picks.
I have been sick for many days,
How can I stand
        to again listen
                to the eight-cloud koto?*

* The yakumo, a two string koto.

Bénshi Shī Shíshōu (Bā)
Sū Mànshū 1884-1918

Wúliàng chūnchóu wúliàng hèn,
Yīshí dōu xiàng zhǐ jiān wū.
Wǒ yī jiānnán duō bìng rí,
Nǎkān gèng tīng bāyúnzhēng.

Translator: Dongbo 東波

Notes:
Su Manshu spent time in Otsu on the shore of Biwako, just to the north of Kyoto.
