Sitting By The Water
Bai Juyi 722-846

Once a sojourner within east palace walls,
now member of a religious group of the Western Region--
a willow branch in hand, I sit by the water
quitely recalling past affairs--as though from a former existence.

Bái Jūyì 722-846

Xī wéi dōng yèyuán zhōng kè,
Jīn zuò xīfāng shè nèi rén.
Shǒu bǎ yáng zhī lín shuǐ
Xián sī wǎngshì sì qián shēn.
