Arriving in Xiangyang a Second Time and Visiting the Old House
Bai Juyi 722-846
Long ago when I came to Xiangyang
I was just starting to grow a moustache.
Now when I visit Xiangyang
moustache and sidelocks are half gray.
Eveything about that past trip a dream--
I came in a rush, rushed home again.
Thatch-roofed house east of the outerwall,
half falling down--who lives there now?
Old friends, most of them scattered and gone,
even the village has moved to another site.
Only these waters of the autumn river,
mist-veiled waves the same as long ago.

Jīn guò Xiāngyáng rì,
Zī bìn bàn chéng sī.
Jiùyóu dōu shì mèng,
Zà dào hū rú guī.
Dōng guō pénghāo zhái,
Huāngliáng jīn shǔ shuí.
Gùzhī duō língluò,
