Cold Sky Long Road

Su Shi 1036-1101 The cold sky and long road worry my servant, He readies my carriage, urging me to start home early. Leaving the hill, I gaze back where clouds meet the trees,  Wild hawks are circling the pagoda spires. This quiet, simple outing brought abundant joy, Once home I’m in a daze, like a dreamer startled awake. Quick! Write a poem to overtake what is escaping, A pure scene once lost can never be recaptured.

Tiān Hán Lùyuán

Su Shì 1036-1103 Tiān hán lùyuán chóu púfū, Zhěng jià cuī guī jí wèi bū. Chūshān huí wàng yún mù hé, Dàn jiàn yě hú pán Fútú. Zī yóu dànbó huān yǒuyú, Dào jiā huāng rú mèngqúqú. Zuòshī huǒjí zhuī wáng bū, Qīng jǐng yī shí hòu nán mó.
