Su Shi 1036-1101
On the riverbank, my person at odds with the world,
Long have I been as white-headed as the waves.
The Creator knows how easily we grow old,
So he reverses the river, making it flow west.

Notes: Each month, at full moon, the tidal bore churns up the Qiantang River to Hangzhou. It is particularly powerful and turbulent at the times of the spring and fall equinox.
