Again Passing Three Humps Ridge
        Nguyen Du 1765-1820

Cloud boundary Three Humps Ridge,
Heaven's traveler again passes through.
My eyes gather in the spreading view,
Beyong the ocean see fishing boats.
Miasmic silent peaks crooked and sharp,
Heaven cold vegetation like fall.
I turn me head to look back,
Helplessly, I grieve for my home.

Zài Yú Sāndiéshān
Ruǎn Yōu (Nguyen Du) 1765-1820

Yúnjì shān san die,
Tiān yóukè zài yú.
Yǎnzhōng shōu dàdì,
Hǎiwài jiàn yúzhōu.
Zhàng jìng fēng wān shòu,
Tiān hán cǎomù qiū.
Xíngrén huíshǒu chù,
Wúnuò gùxiāng chóu.

Notes:
Where are the 三疊山 Sandieshan? We think somewhere on the envoy route in China. Anyone out there know?

We believe the Sandieshan are same as the Sandiequan on Lushan! If so, Nguyen Du's route to Peking must have been through Guangdong, over the Meiguan into Jiangxi, and then by boat down the river to Poyanghu, where he passed by Lushan and entered the Changjiang. If so this poem may have been written on his return trip from Peking to Hanoi.
