Open new plots in southern wilderness, Freed of ambition return to my country home. An honest abode on ten remote acres, A thatched hut of eight or nine rooms. Elms and willows shade back yard, Peaches and plums hang by my eaves. Faint faint the distant village, Curling curling the formless smoke. Dogs bark in echoing alleys, Cocks crow on tall mulberry trees. By the entrance no grubby dust, In empty room leisure to spare. For too long cooped up in a cage, Now content I live with no discord.
