Floating On The Han River
|
Wang Wei 699-759
Three rivers gather at Chu frontier barrier,
Where nine battles met at Jing Gate.
Rivers flow on to edge of world,
Mountain vistas loom and fade.
Local towns float on river, as
River billows stir distant emptiness.
Here at Xiangyang its a good clear day, so
I pause to drink with the Old Mountain Man.

Chu sāi sān Xiāng jiē,
Jīng mén jiǔ pài tōng.
Jiāng liú tiāndì wài,
Shān sè yǒu wú zhōng.
Jùn ba fú qián pǔ,
Bō lán dòng yuǎn kōng.
Xiāngyáng hǎo fēng rí,
Liú zuì yǔ shān wēng.

Notes: Perhaps the Old Mountain Man is Wang Wei's friend Meng Haoran who lived most of his life in the mountains around Xianyang.
