Huangshan Purple Glory Temple, (2)

*****De Pu 1384-1440 Peak-clinging-temple, moss-wrapped-rock, Precipitous climb, no use for bamboo staff. Yellow Mountain soars high, sixty-six peaks, White clouds muffle cave, layered shadows. Thousand bamboo, wind tossed peacock tails,  Ten thousand pines, frost morphed dragon scales. Arriving here instantly body fogotten, Unruffled, tranquily tread temple corridor.

Huángshān Cíguāngsì

Sì xuán jué dǐng shí tái fēng, Pān zhì héxū fú duǎn qióng. Huáng yuè chā tiān fēng liù liù, Bái yún qī dòng yǐng chóngchóng. Fēng yáo fèng wěi qiān gān zhú, Shuāng lǎo lōng lín wàn shù sōng. Dào cǐdùn wàng shēn shì kè, Chángláng bù xiè zì cóng róng.

Notes: There is no 慈光寺 Purple Glory Temple extant on Huangshan today. But the site is there, including the well covered by a small shack with the inscription 佛眼泉 Foyanquan or Buddha's Eye Spring painted on a piece of peeling plywood, and a large hall labeled 慈光閤 Ciguangge, Purple Glory Pavillion, a few old foundation stones and a few stone carvings. The location is not on the peak as the poem suggests, but possibly in the Ming Dynasty when De Pu was here the temple was in a different location? Inside the hall is large bigger than life picture of Deng Xiaoping, dressed in shorts proudly leaning on a hiking stick.
