Little Monk

****Anonymous Little dittle little monk, Head smooth and polished,  Kasaya draped over his shoulder, Fish mallet preaches gonggong sound. Amida Buddha sits in the middle, Four guardian guards on both sides, Bodhisattva! Bless and protect me! Bless my peacefully becoming a monk.

Xiǎo Héshang

Xiǎo ya me, Xiǎo héshang, Tóu guāngguāng, jiāshā me pī shēnshang, Xiǎo mùyú, qiāode dōngdōng xiǎng. Āmítuófó zuò zhōngyāng, Sì Dà Jīnggāng zuò liǎngpáng, Púsà! Bǎoyòu! Bǎoyòu wǒ píngān de zuò héshang.

Notes: This poem is thanks to an anonymous mountain guide on Lushan who sang this ditty as we hiked the trail from resort town of 捁嶺 Kuling to the 東林寺 East Forest Monastery.
