On the bank for the Cauvery River a few miles from downtown Thanjavur is this lovely upscale inn catering to India loving travelers. When you check in it is difficult to get to your room because they have a ritual welcome that they insist on putting you through. First they sprinkle guests with hokkey holy water, then lead them to the veranda and hand them a coconut with a straw so they can savor real coconut milk. Nevertheless, the rooms are nice, great hot water and a swimming pool. All of which are most welcome after several days on the road. And the sunset and sunrise over the river is great.
