Buddhist temple on 國上山 Kugamisan, an hour and a half south of Niigata city. The characters for this temple are the same as those for the mountain, and yet they are pronounced differently, the 'on kun yomi' thing that makes Japanese so infuriating! The English language has its ridiculous spelling, Japanese has on kun yomi, both Chinese and Japanese pronuciations for the same Chinese character.
