Grandson of a Song Dynasty prime minister, Yu Ji lived in the Mongol Dynasty (Yuan). Unhappily he served the Yuan in Beijing, but yearned to return to his home town in Sichuan. 元代文学家。字伯生。祖籍仁寿(今属四川)。宋丞相虞允文五世孙﹐其父任黄冈尉﹐宋亡后﹐侨居临川崇仁(今属江西)。元成宗大德元年(1297)﹐虞集至大都﹐任大都路儒学教授。仁宗时﹐为集贤修撰。泰定帝时﹐升任翰林直学士兼国子祭酒。文宗时﹐任奎章阁侍书学士﹐参加《经世大典》的编写工作。因虞集曾草诏说顺帝非明宗子﹐所以顺帝即位后﹐他就谢病回乡。
