Steppes of Mongolia
Wang Zhaojun
|
Bai Juyi 772-846
Full in her face
barbarian sands
wind full in her hair;
gone from eyebrows
the last traces of kohl
gone the rough from cheeks:
hardship and grieving have wasted it away
now indeed it is the face in the painting!
As the Han envoy departs
she gives him these words:
'When will they send
the yellow gold to ransom me?
Should the Sovereign ask how I look,
don't say I'm any different from those palace days!'

Bái Jūyì 772-846
Mǎn miàn hú shā mǎn bìn fēng,
Méi xiāo cán dài liǎn xiāo hóng.
Chóu kǔ xīn qín qiáo cuì jìn,
Rú jīn què sì huà tú zhōng.
Hàn shǐ què guò pín jì yǔ,
Huáng jīn hé rì shú é méi.
Jūn wáng ruò wèn qiè yán sè,
Mò dào bù rú gōng lǐ shí.
