Away from Home at the Beginning of Summer
Sima Guang 1019-1086

In May when it's mild and the rain finally stops
The Zhongnan Mountains appear in my door
Willow fuzz no longer swirls in the wind
Everywhere sunflowers lean toward the sun

Kè Zhōng Chū Xià
Sīmǎ Guāng 1019-1086

Sìyuè qīnghé yǔ zhà qíng,
Nánshān dāng hù zhuǎn fēnmíng.
Gèng wú liǔxù yīn fēng qǐ,
Wéi yǒu kuíhuā xiàng rì qīn.

Translator: Red Pine-Bill Porter 赤松

Notes:
From the book Poems of the Masters, China's Classic Anthology of Tang and Song Dynasty verse. One of the best, if not "the best", books of general translations of Chinese poetry. Wonderfully detailed notes on each poem and all poems are displayed in the original Chinese.

Translated by Red Pine, published by Copper Canyon Press.
