Jiangnan Spring
Du Mu 803-852

A thousand miles of oriole songs and red among the green
Of wine flags flapping along the shore and in the hills
Four hundred and eighty temples built by the Southern Court
And how many pagodas in the land of mist and rain

Jiāngnán Chūn
Dù Mù 803-852

Qiān lǐ yīng tí lǜ yìng hóng,
Shuǐ cūn shān guō jiǔ qí fēng.
Nán cháo sì bǎi bā shí sì,
Duōshao lóu tái yān yǔ zhōng.

Translator: Red Pine-Bill Porter 赤松

Notes:
From the book Poems of the Masters, China's Classic Anthology of Tang and Song Dynasty verse. One of the best, if not "the best", books of general translations of Chinese poetry. Wonderfully detailed notes on each poem and all poems are displayed in the original Chinese.

Translated by Red Pine, published by Copper Canyon Press.
