On the road toward Langson in Northern Vietnam
On The Langson Road
|
Nguyen Du 1765-1820
Thousand forested mountains ahead
choose a place to rest,
White clouds swirl in caves
waters surge through gulleys.
Mountain monk in bamboo
living in good health,
Sheperd boy riding his buffalo
what could be better.
In the shadows
spy the beard and eyebrows
of an old man,
In a dream of pine and chrysanthemum
think of going home.
To rest at home with my wife
completely at ease,
And never again
in my whole life
read another book!
