Taibai Pavillion on Jingtingshan, Zuancheng
Climbing Jing Pavillion On A Fall Day
|
Li Bo 699-762
River town like a painting,
On this late mountain evening
I gaze at the clear sky.
Two rivers flow
like bright mirrors,
A pair of bridges
arch like rainbows.
Cottage smoke
cools the tangerine trees,
Fall colors
yellow old Wutong trees.
No one knows
here
up on the North Tower,
Facing the wind
I miss Master Xie.

Lǐ Bó 699-762
Jiāng chéng rúhuà lǐ,
Shān wǎn wàng qíngkōng.
Liǎng shuǐ lái míngjìng,
Shuāng qiáo luò cǎihóng.
Rén yān hán júyòu,
Qiūsè lǎo wútōng.
Shéi niàn běilóu shàng,
Lín fēnghuái Xiègōng.

Notes: The 敬亭 Jingting, Jing Pavillion, was on 敬亭山 Jingtingshan, in Xuancheng City, Anhui Province. On a clear day, which is more rare than in Li Bo's time, from Jingtingshan one can see the two rivers flowing by Xuancheng, the 水陽江 Shueiyangjiang and the smaller 宛溪 Wanxi. The two bridges no longer exist.
