Seven Star Crag

Le Quy Don 1726-? We envoys have just arrived from south of Yue,  After our duties          we leisurely stroll about Seven Star Crag. I am fond of its marvelous shapes,          more than a thousand,                  I would guess, Together we walk about,          reluctant to depart. Homogenous greenery          surrounds a quiet temple, While the ring of a bell          wraps through the cold mountain mist. Tavern flags flutter          about beyond the eastern street, We raise our cups in toast,          and drink to our heart’s content.

Qīxīngyán

Le Quy Don 1726-? Shǐjié xīn lái zì Yuè nán, Gōngyú xiánbù Qīxīngyán. Ài tā qí xiù yīng qiān bǎi, Gòng cǐ liúlián zhì zàisān. Shù sè píngfēn huánjìng yuàn, Zhōngshēng tài bàn rào hán lán. Jiǔqí yǎnyìng dōng jiē wài, Yīdù fēi shāng yīdù hān.

Notes: This was written when Le Quy Don stopped in Guilin on his way to the Chinese court in Peking. The Seven Star Crag is just across the Lijiang from Guilin.
