High Autumn Moon Thinking of Ziyou
|
Su Shi 1036-1101
Six years ago
we shared this moon,
I recall our parting song,
With full heart cold
and choking throat.
I treasure your letters from the capital,
Our meetings are mighty few.
Melted silver on hundred hectare lake,
A suspended mirror
below thousand foot tower..
The third watch gong fades away,
Shadows flicker in leafless trees.
Return below north hall,
Cold light covers dew leaves.
Call for drink, drink with the girls,
Miss talking with my brother.
But weak and sick after,
Empty cup to the chestnut.
Yet see old river east,
Buckwheat blossoms unfold like snow.
Wish to return to the past,
But fear my heart would explode.
