Ghost's head at Ghost Gate Pass
Crossing Ghost Gate Pass
|
Phan Huy Chu
Heading far off on this length road
to the Celestial Pallace,
Amidst countless peaks and rugged terrain
I cross Ghost Gate Pass.
Having made it through a hard stretch
the drivers scold the horses,
Alarmed I wonder
what is it that the monkeys
in the trees are shouting for?
The sun appears above a high cliff
and the mountain mists disperse,
Spring embraces a cold stream
bringing warmth to the water and stones.
I respectfully glance at the old hearty one
his potent traces still about,
And offer a fragrant goblet to him
amidst the remnant aroma
rising about the old temple.
