Yumenguan, Jade Gate Pass, Gansu
Border Pass Ballad
|
Wang Changling 698-757
I water my horse
cross the autumn river,
The water is frigid
the wind piercing.
Beyond the flat desert
a weak sun sags ,
In the gathering gloom
I make out Lintao.
It is said spirits were high
in former Great Wall battles,
Now in the yellow dust
all traces are gone,
Only white bones
haphazardly scattered.

Yìnmǎ dù qiūshuǐ,
Shuǐ hán féng sì lì.
Píngshā rí wèi méi,
Ànàn jiàn Líntáo.
Xīrì chángchéng zhàn,
Xián yán yìqì gāo.
Huáng chén zú jīn gǒ,
Bái gǔ luàn pēngpēng.
