For long this traveler's heart,
        Grieves we are not together.
Far removed from my home town,
By a river current
        I can't ford.
Gu-gu the torrent's roar
        does'nt amuse,
As in early spring I struggle upward.
How I wish we were together,
Many depressing thoughts converge!
To the left as far as I can see
        vast emptiness,
Looking back to the right
        a narrow defile.
The sun droops
        to the ruffled river,
Clouds form on layered peaks.
White roots
        contend with new green moss,
Green crab-apple
        shoots out new leaves.
I gather fragrant plants
        but the fragrance's waisted,
Small joys
        but they don't last.
Chances for a night of love
        remote,
Gazing out
        who can say I'm content?!?

Lú rén xīn chāng jiǔ,
Yōuyōu zìxiāng jiē.
Gùxiāng gù yóuyuǎn,
Chuān lù bù kě shè.
Mìluó mò yǔ yú,
Fā chūn tuō dēng niè.
Huān yuàn jí wú bìng,
Qīyōu shù yǒu xié.
Jímù lài zài kuò,
Huígù tiào shí xiá
Rì mò jiàn zēng bō,
Yún shēng diān yú dié.
Báizhǐ jìng xīn tái,
Lǜ píngqí chū yè.
Zhāi fāngfāng mí xuān,
Yúlè lè bùbiàn.
Jiāqī miǎn wú xiàng,
Chěngwàng shéi yún qiè?!
