Not quite the right image! But at least it is the old Huanghe, at night, in Xuzhou.
Up At Night On A Boat
|
Su Shi 1036-1101
A faint breeze
xiao-xiao
stirs the wild rice,
Hatch open look for rain
discover moon filled lake.
Boat men and gulls
share the same dream,
Big fish
startled
flees like a scared fox.
The night is deep
men and beasts ignore each other,
Alone, my shadow and I chuckle together.
Gloomy tides innundate the islets
pity the cold earthworms,
Sinking moon caught in the willows
silouettes a dangling spider.
This life of cares
hoo-hoo!
gone in an instant.
This lucid scene before my eyes
gone in a moment!
Cocks crow
temple bells gong
white gulls scatter,
At the bow I beat a drum
hoot into the night.

Sū Shì 1036-1101
Wēifēng xiāoxiāo chuī gūpú,
Kāi mén kàn yǔ yuè mǎn hú.
Zhōurén shuǐ niǎo liǎng tóngmèng,
Dà yú jīng cuàn rú bēn hú.
Yè shēn rénwù bù xiāng guǎn,
Wǒ dú xíngyǐng xiāng xī yú.
Àn cháo shēng zhǔ diào yǐn hán,
Luò yuè guà liǔ kàn xuán zhū.
Cǐ shēng hūhū yōuhuàn lǐ,
Qīng jìng guòyǎn néng xūyú.
Jīmíng zhōng dòng bái niǎo sàn,
Chuántóu jīgū hái xiāng hū.
