Looking north from Yumenguan into Gobi Desert

Dark clouds conceal Qinghai mountain snowpack,
From exile town watch Jade Pass in the distance .
Yellow sand riddles armor of endless wars,
So far Loulan still remains unconquered.
Jade Gate Mountains blocks several thousand strong,
North and south of mountains, constant beacon fires.
We depend on distant troops, must watch with vigilence,
Horses scour remote mountains but find not trace.....
