Nocturnal Crossing, June 20, 1097

*****Su Shi Savage Yellow Dipper rotates at Third Watch,  Torential rain stops,,         Wind rises,                 Sky clears,                        Clouds disperse,                                Moon beckons,  Who embellished this world? Sea's tones reflected in heavens,                 Clear..translucent. Willingly, this old dullard boards small craft ,  Accompanied by rough country music. Liùyuè Èrshírì Yè Dùhǎi

Cān Huángdǒu zhuǎn yù sāngēng, Kǔyǔ zhōng fēng yě jiě qíng. Yúnsàn yuè míng shuí diǎnzhui, Tiān róng hǎi sè běn chéngqīng. Kōng lǔ lù sǒu chéng fú yì, Cū shí Xuānyuán zòuyuè shēng. Jiǔ sǐ nán huāng wú bù hèn, Zī yóu qí jué guān píngshēng.

Notes: Notes: I twas here on June 20, 1097 that Su Shi departed to exil on Hainan. In Su Shi's time, the crossing from Xuwen, on the southern tip of the 雷州半島Thunder Peninsula, to Haiko, on the northern edge of 海南 Hainan, took about one and a half days, assuming the wind was favorable. Today by express hydrofoil it takes slightly more than one hour!
