For those who truly know the inside of San Francisco's atmosphere & past, there is no other place, that reflects history, mystery than John's Grill. It was the hangout of Dashiell Hammett when he was a gum-shoe detective with Pinkerton's, before he became San Frncisco's most famous writer of detective stories.
Sam Spade, hammett's detective in the Maltese Falkon, frequented John's Grill for its "chops, baked potato and sliced tomato". A San Francisco institution it is well worth a visit!
