Pingxiang is the small town 15km north of the Youyiguan in Guangxi Province. It nestles in a small river valley surrounded by kast hills covered with green vegitation. In early July, 2006, there are signs of development here. New curbs and sidewalks are under construction. The 金祥大酒店 Jinxiang Dajiudian is a 15 story newish, but rundown hotel with pleasant rooms with views of the city and nearby hills. No airconditioning, but no mosquitoes! I sleep with the window open all night and not one bite! And the air is fresh with an occasional light breeze.
