The hexagonal 繁塔 Buotǎ* sits in the grounds of what was once the 天清寺 Tiānqīngsì which no longer exits. (Locals in Kaifeng all insist the correct pronuciation is 'Buota', not 'Fanta', the correct putonghua pronunciation of this character.) It is a squat pagoda covered with 7,000 unglazed tile figures of Buddhas, apsara, and musicians and dancers. It has a domed main hall on the base platform and another smaller hall with one window on the second level. There is also a third level which was not accessible. There are a couple of wood benches on the second level where one can quietly meditate and enjoy the view.

* also locally called the Buota...the local dialect?
