Beside the Chua Hoa Yen 雲煙寺, Cloud Mist Temple, midway up Yen Tu Mountain, is a line of simple restaurants, the upper floors of which provide simple open sleeping rooms for overnighting pilgrims. Being a foreigner I was offer a private room consisting of three coorugated iron walls, a curtain on the other wall and a cut out for a window overlooking Yen Tu Mountain. The room was the size of one soft mattress on the floor. A welcome sight after the long climb up!
