Nikko's venerable hotel founded in the late 19th century. Most famous and not so famous visitors to Japan before and after World War I and II stayed here. During the US Occupation is was a hotel for US officer rank soldiers. Elizabeth Bird the hardy English traveler stayed here in the late 19th century.
