Professor Jon Eugene von Kowallis is currently Senior Lecturer in Chinese at the University of New Sounth Wales. He received his Ph.D. in Oriental languages at the University of California at Berkeley. he has taught Chinese language and literature at Berkeley, UCLA, the University of Oregon, Williams College and Charles University in Prague. Jon has lived, studied, worked and traveled extensively in China, Taiwan, Outer Mongolia and Europe. His publications include The Lyrical Lu Xun, a study of Lu Xun's classical style verse, published by the University of Hawaii Press, in which this translation can be found.
