The first church one would pass on the left when arriving in Old Gao by ship, debarking and marching throught the Viceroy's Arch. This church takes a little time to visit. It hold intricate guilded wood carvings and mural of the life of St Francis of Assis. it was first built in 1571 (Ming Dynasty) for the Franciscans. the present building dates from 1661 (Qing Dynasty).
