Photo is of Daoist practicing 無為 Wuwei, Non Action at the new Baiyunguan. From this you can see that Daoism is alive and well in Shanghai.

This is the new Baiyunan opened in 2006 on Dajinglu, east side of Renminlu, next to the Dajingge. It is the Shanghai headquarters of the Taoist Association.

The old Baiyunguan, founded in the Yuan Dynasty, was rebuilt in 1882 at 100 西林後路 Xilinhou Rd. , having received 8,000 scrolls from the Baiyunguan Temple in Beijing. Few of its magnificent paintings and sculptures survived the Cultural Revolution—only seven bronze Taoist gods remain. Inn March, 2006, it is shuttered and empty, awaiting the bulldozers of urban renewal.
