The Chua Tran Quoc sits on Ca Vang Island, linked by a bridge to the causeway between West Lake and Tran Bach Lake. Founded in the early sixth century during the reign of King Ly Nam De (544-548). Its original location was on the bank of the Red River, But the bank crumbled and in 1615 it was moved to its current location.
In the gardens stands a bodhi tree, taken from a cutting of the original tree, under which Buddha sat and achieved enlightenment.
