This temple, Needle Grinding Well, has another name, 回心庵 Huíxīnān, Returning Mind Hut. The story behind the fist name has to do with grinding and iron pole until it becomes a needle, a task requiring endless determination. In the 1910's it resurfaces in a well known Heimu 黑幕, Black Curtain short story by Zhu Shouju. The protagonist Sanxin thinks; 'He might as well get home, have some dinner, and come back early tomorrow. With enough determination, a steel pole can be ground to a needle. He need not doubt that, in time, he would succeed.'
