The 玄妙觀 Xuánmiàoguān, Mysterious Sublimity Temple, a temple of the Daoist Orthodox Oneness sect, first built in 276 during the Eastern Jin Dynasty sits smack in the center of Suzhou 蘇州 on Guanqian Street. It has had many names over the centuries; Zhenqing Daoist Temple in the Jin, Kaiyuan Temple during the Tang, Yuanmiao Temple in the Northern Song and Yuan Dyansties.
 Hidden below the seat of the statue of the Supreme Venerable Sovereign in the main hall is a stone carving of a painting of the Venerable Sovereign by the famous painter Wu Taozi of the Tang Dynasty.
