An influential early Tang poet. He was a native of Sichuan. His criticism of the harsh policies of a cousin of Empress Wu, resulted in his being persecuted to death. He is chiefly remembered for his cycle of 38 poems known as Ganyu, Stirred by my experiences. He was an early critic of the daity and mawkish tendency prevalent in the early Tang.
