Seeing off Yuan'er on a Mission to Anxi
Wang Wei 701-761

Morning rain dampens the dust in Weicheng
New willow catkins turn an inn green
Drink one more cup of wine my friend
West of Yang Pass there's no one you know

Sòng Yuán'èr Shǐ Ānxī
Wáng Wéi 701-761

Wèichéng zhāo yǔ yì qīng chén,
Kè shě qīngqīng liǔ sè xīn.
Quàn jūn gèng jìn yī bēi jiǔ,
Xī chū Yángguān wú gùrén.

Translator: Red Pine-Bill Porter 赤松

Notes:
From the book Poems of the Masters, China's Classic Anthology of Tang and Song Dynasty verse. One of the best, if not "the best", books of general translations of Chinese poetry. Wonderfully detailed notes on each poem and all poems are displayed in the original Chinese.

Translated by Red Pine, published by Copper Canyon Press.
