Mooring at Guazhou
        Wang Anshi 1021-1086

Jingkou and Guazhou a strip of river apart,
Mt. Zhongshan just a few ridges away,
Once again the spring breeze has greened  the southern bank,
But when will the bright moon light my way home?

Bóchuán Guāzhōu
Wáng Ānshí 1021-1086

Jīngkǒu Guāzhōu yī shuǐ jiān,
Zhōngshān zhǐ gé shù zhòng shān.
Chūnfēng yòu lǜ Jiāngnán àn,
Míngyuè héshí zhào wǒ huán.

Translator: Charles Q. Wu 吳千之

Notes:
Guazhou is an ancient town near Jiuquan in Gansu, famous for its juicy melons. The river must be the Huanghe, Yellow River which flows through Gansu. The Zhongnan Mountains are a chain running east to west south of Xian, Shaanxi, and ito Gansu.

If Wang Anshi was in Gansu he was certainly far from his home in the capital of the Northern Song Dynasty, Kaifeng in Henan Province!
