The Pavillion Of Master Xie

Li Bo 699-762 Xie Pavillion, a place of parting... Always, this scene provokes pain. Guests disperse beneath a dark sky's moon, The mountain emptying; green waters flow. Pond blossoms in spring reflect the sun, The bamboo by the window at night         hums with autumn. So times present and ancient          meet and follow one another, I sing long and think tenderly          back to outings in the past.

Xiègōngtíng

Lǐ Bó 699-762 Xiètíng líbiéchù, Fēngjǐng hǎi shēng chóu. Kè sàn Qīngtiān yuè, Shān kōng bìshuǐ liú. Chí huā chūn yìngrì, Chuāng zhú yè wū qiú. Jīn gǔ yī xiāngjiē, Cháng gē huái jiù yóu.

Notes: Xie Tiao 464-499 was a poet of the Six Dynasties period that Li Bai greatly admired. Xie was a official in Xuancheng and was therafter known as Xie Xuancheng. Later he ran afoul of a prominent official and was thrown in prison where he died at the age of 35. He was from the same clan as Xie Lingyun. 謝朓（四六四─四九九），字玄暉，南朝齊代文學家。陳郡陽夏（今河南省太康附 近）人，出身貴族，曾做過宣城太守等官職，所以後人又稱他為謝宣城。齊永元元 年（四九九），江佑等人策劃政變，另立始安王蕭遙光為帝。逍遙光想拉攏謝朓， 朓不從，被捕入獄，同年死於獄中，年僅三十六歲。謝朓與謝靈運同族，又都長於 山水詩，故後人有「大謝（靈運）」「小謝（朓）」之稱。他的山水詩寓情深遠， 清新秀麗，完全擺脫了魏晉玄言詩風的影響，且詩中佳句迭出，深為當時人民所喜 愛。梁武帝說：三天不誦讀謝朓的詩，就覺得口發臭。唐代大詩人李白也很推崇謝朓。
