On the Borders
        Wang Changling (698 - 757)

The bright moon of the Qing dynasty...
The ancient pass of the Han dynasty...
Soldiers after soldiers,
not a single one of them ever returns
from the long march
        thousands
                and thousands of miles long.
Oh with the winged general
of the Dragon City stationed here,
Tartar horses
would never have crossed the Yin Mountain.

Chū Sài
Wánɡ Chānɡlínɡ 698-757

Qín shí mínɡyuè hàn shí ɡuān,
Wànlǐ chánɡzhēnɡ rén wèi huán.
Dàn shǐ lónɡchénɡ fēijiànɡ zài,
Bù jiào húmǎ dù yīnshān.

Notes:
[大意]秦漢時代的明月依舊照著漢時的邊關,遠征萬里的戰士還沒有返回家園。如果“飛將軍”李廣依然健在,就不會讓胡人的鐵騎越過陰山。
