Red Crested Swans mating at the Dulu River in Heilongjiang
Dulu River
|
Li Bo 699-762
Mud in waters of the Dulu;
Water so murky you can't see the moon.
Not seeing the moon is still alright;
But water's so deep, a traveler could drown.
As birds of Yue fly in from the south;
Geese of Hu cross, too, to the north.
I want to bend my bow and shoot toward the heavens;
Pity that
midway through their journey
they'll lose the road home.
Falling leaves part from branches;
With a dry flutter follow the wind.
A traveler with no place to rest;
Grieves to be like them.
Gauze bed curtain unfurls and furls;
Seems that someone is opening.
The bright moon comes straight in,
Its mind not one to rouse suspicion.
Hero's sword hangs on the wall;
From time to time a dragon hums.
It will will not break through rhinoceros ivory;
Breeding lacy moss and mold.
The kingdom's shame not yet washed away;
How can one make his name?
The divine hawk over the Marsh of Dreams;
Pays no heed to common kites.
One strike for his master;
The peng-bird cuts across the Nine Heavens.
