Li Bo 699-762 How long since the "Elegantiae" were composed... And, with my demise, who then shall carry on? The airs of the kings:          given over to withered creeping vines, And the Warring States:          overgrown with brambles and thorns, ........ I am determined to condense and retell, The brilliance (my writings) emit          will illuminate a thousand springtimes. Should an aspiring sage establish himself, I will stop writing          when the "unicorn is caught."

Lǐ Bái 699-762 Dàyǎ jiǔ bú zuò, Wú shuāi jìnɡ shuí chén? Wánɡfēnɡ wěi màn cǎo, Zhànɡuó duō jīnɡ zhēn. Lónɡ hǔ xiānɡ dàn shí, Bīnɡ ɡē dǎi kuánɡ qín. Zhènɡshēnɡ hé wēi mánɡ, āi yuàn qǐ sāorén. Yánɡ mǎ jī tuí bō, Kāi liú dànɡ wú yín. Fèi xīnɡ suī wàn biàn, Xiànzhānɡ yì yǐ lún. Zì cónɡ jiàn’ān lái, Qǐ lì bù zú zhēn. Shènɡdài fù yuán ɡǔ, Chuí yī ɡuì qīnɡ zhēn. Qúncái shǔ xiū mínɡ, Chénɡ yùn ɡònɡ yuè lín. Wénzhì xiānɡ bǐnɡ huàn, Zhònɡxīnɡ luó qiūmín. Wǒ zhì zài shān shù, Chuí huī yìnɡ qiānchūn. Xī shènɡ rú yǒu lì, Jué bǐ yú huò lín. 
